Community Conversation on Housing, S.T.E.P.S Program Looking for Summer Business Partners
City of Milpitas - Office of Economic Development | May 24, 2021
In partnership with local nonprofit CatalyzeSV, the City of Milpitas is facilitating a series of three Community Conversations on Revitalizing Main Street, each revolving around a different aspect of the future of Main Street. The first conversation focused on business was held on April 29. The next conversation is scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 6-8pm. This conversation is focused on housing and how to facilitate new housing development on Main Street that meets the needs of Milpitas’ residents. To register for our May event and learn more about the third and final Community Conversation, visit https://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/planningdepartment/.
The Milpitas Unified School District's Student Transition and Employment Prep Services Program "S.T.E.P.S" seeks job sites in Milpitas that can provide 50 hours of work experience during the month of July 2021. S.T.E.P.S will provide the wages and workers' compensation insurance to the employer and will also provide training and support at the site if needed, including follow-up support for the employer and student. The S.T.E.P.S Summer Work Program is funded by the California Department of Education, WorkAbility I Program, and the State Department of Department of Rehabilitation, TPP Program. The Program benefits students, employers, and the community by providing work experience for our Milpitas High School students and is supported by staff consisting of 2 Workforce Developers and 1 Coordinator. Staff will match the student's skill level and interests to the employer's needs. If your business is interested in participating, please contact Summer Work Coordinator Annette Rodarte at arodarte@musd.org.
