Bastrop Music Festival returns September 22-25, 2022!

Mark your calendars for four days of live music, featuring more than 40 shows by artists in a variety of genres at venues across Bastrop.

CROSSWALK MURAL PROJECT

The Main Street Advisory Board created a Crosswalk Mural Project where the program along with selected artists will install 2-3 crosswalk murals each year over the next 3 years. This year two total murals will be installed on Main Street; one at the intersection of Main Street and Spring Street and the other at the intersection of Main Street and Chestnut Street (see map for details).

Below is a link to the art call application. The theme of the murals are "Uniquely Bastrop, meaning the Crosswalk art should maintain and enhance our historic community feel by leveraging the unique combination of community, parks, cultural and recreational assets that make Bastrop a special place to live and work.

We want extent a huge THANK YOU to Sherwin Williams who generously donated the below items for the project:

2.5 gallons of red, blue, yellow, black, and white sidewalk paint
1 roller and roller extension
5 roller covers
5 paint trays

Installation will begin on Friday, October 7, 2022 in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk festivities.

APPLICATION

YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL MURAL

The Youth Advisory Council's (YAC) 2021-2022 mural project is officially complete on the side of Blake's Music Shop (1112 Main Street). The Youth Advisory Council along with the building owner selected the art rendering for the project at the July 18^th YAC meeting.

The mural’s name is “The future is ours,” and its was installed by artist Aaron Darling. Mr. Darling is a central Texas resident and has painted murals in small towns around Texas for the last 15 years. He loves to work with the local community to bring beautiful and accessible art to the public. The mural was installed using artist grade mural spray paint.

There will be a ceremony in the coming weeks to celebrate. We hope to see y'all there to celebrate!!
