Friday Night Candlelight Hikes
January 3, 2020
5:00 - 8:00 PM

Set your own pace on a self-guided trail hike (or snowshoe or cross-country ski) and follow the candle lit path to a camp fire and hot cocoa.

Charlevoix Recreation is currently seeking volunteers to help with a number of responsibilities surrounding the hikes. Volunteer positions include Set-Up, Tear Down, Putting out Candles, Trail Head Greeters and Fire Pit Greeters. “If you have an interest in getting some exercise, meeting up with old friends or making new ones this winter, consider volunteering at one or more of our hikes. Those that worked and volunteered last year had a really good time. It really is nice to see so many people in our community out on the trails, especially in the winter!”, said Kent Knorr, Recreation Director

For more about the Candlelight Hikes, call the Recreation Department at 231-547-3253.

Service Highlight
You may recognize Caitlin Cole as a familiar face around town and at our Chamber of Commerce. She was born in Grand Rapids and moved to Charlevoix with her family when she was three years old. She attended Charlevoix Public Schools, where in High School she was an involved student. She served on the Student Council and played on the Lady Rayders Basketball team, where they went to state finals in 2004 (her junior year).

After graduation she went on to attend Central Michigan University and graduated with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising. During her education she worked at Villager Pub and on her summer breaks from college. After CMU she worked for a marketing company in Royal Oak.

Her heart was still in Charlevoix so she decided to make the move back home. Not only did Caitlin move back but she decided to get involved in the community and started volunteering for Main Street. Shortly thereafter she joined Charlevoix County Leadership Training. Her team from Leadership is in the process of getting a Universal Access Kayak Launch installed at Ferry Beach. They still need a little more funding to complete the project and are working with the engineers to see it come to fruition.
Caitlin currently fulfills the role of Events Coordinator with the Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce where she has been for the last year and a half. You may still see her occasionally at Villager Pub an evening or two a week.

When asked what she does in her free time, she laughed and said she has no free time! But when she does, she loves to read, play Bunco and if you know her at all, she's the social events coordinator with her friends and family. When asked why she volunteers, she said she likes to make things happen in Charlevoix.

Thank you, Caitlin for loving this community and for all you do!
