Oskaloosa Main Street Director
Hello! I am your new Main Street Director.
My name is Amy Brainard and I am a lifelong Mahaska County resident and graduate of Oskaloosa High School and William Penn University. I am married to Mike and we have a son, Everett, and two Boston Terriers. In our free time we enjoy Iowa Wild hockey, camping, and don't miss attending the Iowa State Fair.
I have spent the past 18 years working at ISU Extension and Outreach in Mahaska County with the 4-H Youth Development program.
I am excited to serve in the Main Street Director role and look forward to getting to know our Main Street district businesses better and implementing our amazing events!
Summer Main Street Events
The 53rd Annual Art on the Square event was held on Saturday, June 11. Despite the morning showers, we had a great crowd throughout the day and the vendors were pleased with the turnout. The 2nd Annual Window Art Walk was held and 30 business windows in the downtown Main Street District will remain painted through the month of June (or longer). Thank you to all who volunteered to paint a window and assist with Art on the Square. It was a great "kickoff to summer" and we can't wait to see you in July for Sweet Corn Serenade!
Sweet Corn Serenade will take place on Thursday, July 28 from Noon-9 PM in and around the downtown City Square Park in Oskaloosa.
Food will be served from 4-9 PM or until it runs out.
Live music will start at 3:30 PM with Cody Wayne, followed by Royce Johns from 4:30-7:30 PM, and it will finish with the City Band Concert at 8 PM.
Food vendors will be located around the square and art + craft vendors will be in the park.
Mahaska County Farm Bureau will provide several family-friendly agriculture activities, Eddyville Raceway Park will have a funny car available to check out, and we'll have a single elimination Bags Tournament, wagon rides, tractor teeter-totter, and lots more at this year's event. Volunteers will be needed for this event, details coming soon!
