Ways to Give Feedback

As we start this project, we want to hear from you! Before we start drafting designs for the street, we want to know how it works for you today.

A few questions to get you started:

  • How do you currently use Main Street?
  • To fit separated bike lanes, we will have to remove about half the parking between Massachusetts Avenue and Portland Street. What types of parking should we keep? Where?
  • What elements of the street do you like?
  • Where do you have safety concerns?
  • What can we improve?

Your comments will help inform layout options for the street, which we'll present in our next community meeting. There are a few ways to give feedback:

  • Comment Map: Leave location-specific feedback on our comment map. Click "Submit a comment" to leave a note at a specific location, or "heart" other comments that you agree with. We've added some of the comments we already received.
  • Feedback Form: If you have feedback or comments that aren't tied to a specific location, or if you would like a response, use our feedback form.
  • Emailing the Project Manager: If you're having trouble, email project manager Stephen Meuse at smeuse@cambridgema.gov.

We take all forms of feedback into account, so don't worry about which format you usewe'll consider everything we receive.

About the Main Street Safety Improvement Project

The Main Street Safety Improvement Project will add separated bike lanes on Main Street between Massachusetts Avenue and Portland Street. This quick-build project will change the layout of the street with new pavement markings, modified traffic signals, and flex posts. We will also improve existing crosswalks and make changes to parking and loading. Because separated bike lanes are wider than regular bike lanes, they take up more space on the street. To fit them, we will need to remove about half of the parking spaces in the area.
