MDOT Begins Enhanced Transit and Active Transportation Study Associated with the Gorham Connector
Sam Updike, DBE Supportive Services Specialist
The Maine Department of Transportation started a feasibility study that will look at opportunities for new and expanded public transit services and active transportation facilities if the Maine Turnpike Authority Gorham Connector is constructed. The goal of the study is to assess opportunities for connections that would not be feasible without the Gorham Connector. Travel time savings, changing travel patterns, and land availability for transportation purposes will all be considered when weighing the benefits of potential transportation services and facilities. The final analysis will provide public and state officials with a detailed assessment of the costs and benefits associated with enhancing public transit and transportation infrastructure, specifically in relation to the proposed Gorham transportation corridor. This will also provide some insight for DBE businesses who might want to be involved with these potential projects in the future.
