Contracting and Subcontracting Along Maine's Border
Sam Updike, DBE Supportive Services Specialist

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will be hosting a small business training and networking event in Madawaska on Thursday, August 15. The event will be held 1:00pm-4:00pm on the second floor of the Madawaska Safety Complex located at 428 E Main Street in Madawaska, Maine. There are ten Land Port of Entries being modernized in New England and five of those are in Maine. GSA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will be presenting on “How to Do Business with GSA”. GSA’s Public Building Service will be discussing contracting and subcontracting opportunities at the Madawaska and at other LPOE sites being updated in Maine like those in Limestone, Fort Fairfield Houlton, Calais and Coburn Gore.

Land Port of Entry provides a lot of opportunities for DBE and transportation related businesses. This is especially the case in a boarder state like ours. LPOE Madawaska has a particular interest in businesses involved with facilities management, landscaping, snow removal, and general maintenance.

Any business planning to attend should RSVP no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 13 to my email, supdike@emdc.org with their business name and the names of those attending.
