Happy National Recovery Month!

Each September, National Recovery Month shines a light on the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community. We celebrate our community, which includes our members, service providers, recovery residences, treatment partners, and allies who make recovery in all its forms possible.

Personally, it’s a reminder for me of the power of hope. Each year at the PRCC Rally 4 Recovery, I am moved by the recovery countdown because you can feel the immense power of love, hope, and unity. It includes everyone, and the “most important” people are the ones newest to recovery. We celebrate the many years, days, and hours of freedom and love. You can feel the gratitude of recovering. You can feel the joy. From one day to many years, we’re all in this together.

Recovery month is celebrated in communities across Maine to inspire hope and express gratitude. Recovery Month makes visible that over 26 million people in the United States have recovered from Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

Recovery is for everyone because it benefits everyone. In recovery, we build new connections to ourselves, our families, and our communities.

We know that when people recover from active addiction the community also recovers and thrives. This is one of the many reasons that Recovery Community Centers (RCCs) are such important places. RCCs offer a a safe place to share, heal and grow that honor the multiple pathways of recovery.

Today there are 17 RCCs throughout the state of Maine with several more starting in the next few months. Celebrations of Recovery Month will take places across the state reaching from Portland to Caribou. We love seeing recovery so visible in our communities.

Kindly,

Leslie Clark, Executive Director

PRCC Rally 4 Recovery

It’s the time of year that we take a moment to celebrate our journeys and recognize new milestones. As PRCC marks 10 years of serving Maine’s recovery community, please join us September 10 from 12 pm to 4 pm for a unique edition of the Rally 4 Recovery, in which we will celebrate Recovery Month as well as host a grand opening of our newly renovated center.

This year, in addition to our usual festivities of music, speakers, food trucks, family activities, recovery resources and more, we will be celebrating PRCC's 10 year anniversary as well as doing an official ribbon cutting ceremony of our new home at 102 Bishop Street.

This is a great event organized by people in recovery, allies, friends, and families.
