The Innovation Summit Offers a Glimpse of Things to Come

This past May 2025, The Innovation Summit: A Path for Maine was held in Portland, where more than 500 stakeholders gathered to reimagine services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism, brain injury, and other related conditions. Hosted by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS), in partnership with the National Disability Institute, the Summit brought together providers, policymakers, advocates, and innovators committed to advancing inclusive, person-centered services. In a welcome letter, Governor Janet Mills shared her personal connection to the issue through her grandson, Zach, and reflected, “I still think about Zach every time a family in Maine tells me they are having a hard time finding care for their loved ones.” Her message underscored the urgency of the work and encouraged participants to explore bold ideas and technologies that increase independence and improve outcomes. Throughout the event, participants shared....

RESOURCE UPDATE: Explore Recent Changes Maine SIS-A Tools and Resources Site


As shared in earlier communications, a completely redesigned Maine SIS-A Tools and Resources website  launched on August 19. The same comprehensive resources are still available to you but in a new, more intuitive layout. The various types of content, such as Announcements and FAQs now have their own dedicated pages.

Meet New SIS-A Coordinator, Jenna Norton


We’re pleased to introduce the newest member of our team, Coordinator I – Clinical Assessments, Jenna Norton. She contacts the Member, Case Manager, family members, guardians, and others to schedule the appointment. Then everyone meets for the assessment interview. Once completed, the results are sent to the Member’s Case Manager. The SIS-A results can help the Case Manager with Person-Centered Planning for the Member.

Please share in a few sentences about your professional background/work history related to your current role:

I hold an A.A.S in Mental Health and a B.S in Psychology. I am graduating in December 2025 with a Dual Master's Degree in both School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have previously worked as a Mental Health Worker, and Adult Case Manager, and a School Counseling/Clinical Counseling intern providing and advocating for support for individuals in both the school and community setting.

 

What area of the state do you service in your role?

Skowhegan and the surrounding areas, throughout Somerset, Waldo, Franklin, Piscataquis, Penobscot and Kennebec counties. 

 

What is your favorite part of the work you do?

I really enjoy connecting with individuals and families, hearing their stories, and helping to ensure that their supports reflect their strengths and who they are as individuals, highlighting their unique qualities. 

 

Have you lived in other places besides Maine?

I was born and raised in Maine. I absolutely love it here and don't have plans to leave!
