Central South Carpenters Regional Council welcomes members of Southeastern and Florida Councils

A message from Kavin E. Griffin, Executive Secretary-Treasurer & CEO of the Central South Carpenters Regional Council

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

On behalf of the Central South Carpenters Regional Council (“CSCRC”), it is my distinct honor and privilege to welcome our fellow brother and sister members from the Florida Carpenters Regional Council (“FCRC”) and the Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council (“SECRC”). Due to the dissolution of the FCRC and SECRC, all affiliated local unions have merged into the CSCRC. Be assured that the step to dissolve the FCRC and SECRC and merge these locals into their geographic counterpart, the CSCRC, was a well-thought-out plan by the top leadership of our union to utilize your dues more effectively towards improving your wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Previously, the jurisdiction of the CSCRC included the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas, encompassing 21 affiliate Local Unions as follows:

  • Arkansas = six local unions,
  • Louisiana = three local unions,
  • Mississippi = two local unions,
  • Oklahoma = two local unions, and
  • Texas = eight local unions

Most of these members work in construction and industrial operations. Current members of FCRC Local Unions 702, 1000, 1809, 1820, 1905 and SECRC Local Unions 50, 74, 223, 225, 256, 283, 312, 318, 345, 1192, 1209, 1263, 1554 will now be members of the CSCRC, bringing the total number of Local Unions within the CSCRC jurisdiction to thirty-nine (39). These changes have been made on your behalf in the UBC Membership Processing System (“PERSONIFY”).

I am honored to serve as your Executive Secretary-Treasurer & CEO of the Regional Council, and I am extremely optimistic regarding the opportunities that exist within our expanded geographical area. The new Regional Council footprint currently has 22,125 UBC members who, collectively, will conservatively produce about 27.2 million worked hours annually. I embrace the opportunities, prospects, and challenges that are ahead for our Regional Council; you have my commitment that the staff and I will not waiver in working to improve the lives of all UBC members within the CSCRC. I look forward to working hard at increasing our membership and growing the base within the CSCRC jurisdiction, as well as the unity and solidarity among our brothers and sisters.

In closing, I understand that with change comes many questions, concerns, and unknowns. Please know that I am available personally, and so is the Regional Council leadership team, to address your specific needs. I encourage each of you to visit and utilize www.CentralSouthCarpenters.ORG, along with the CS Carpenters App, where you will be able to stay current on all Regional Council activities. I kindly ask for your patience during this transition period to ensure a pleasant change for every new member. To lay a strong foundation for this process, the Regional Council’s leadership and I urge you to attend one of six tentative informational meetings. These meetings are for all members in the respective geographic areas, regardless of the Local Union office where they're held.
