REGISTRATION IS OPEN

George Street hill climb

See how fast you can pedal up the short, steep hill in Worcester, Mass., where the legendary Major Taylor made his mark in the 19th century.

It's one rider at a time against the clock on Sunday, July 26, in the 22nd edition of the George Street Bike Challenge for Major Taylor.

New this year, entry is free for Seven Hills Wheelmen members. Nonmembers pay $25. Riders can register here.

Vendors and community organizations can reserve a spot for tent/table space in the bike festival that will take place on Main Street during the hill climb.

Volunteers make George Street possible. If you can help in the weeks ahead, and/or on July 26 during setup or cleanup or the main event, volunteer here.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Rides to remember

Major Taylor cycling clubs in Arkansas, Tennessee, Ohio, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania will show off their premier bicycle routes -- and share Major Taylor's remarkable story -- during signature rides in June and July.

First up is Major Taylor 111 at the Port, June 13 in Little Rock. The ride will include a 1-mile sprint segment where riders can compare their Strava times to Major Taylor's first official world record: 1 minute, 41.4 seconds for a mile. (Ultimately, Taylor lowered the record to 1:19.)

For all the ride distances, dates, entry fees, and registration links, visit our Events page.

PREMIUMS

For our supporters

A 3" vinyl sticker is our thank-you for a donation, which helps us maintain our unique ability to share Major Taylor's story and preserve the legacy of the 1899 world champion. Through Juneteenth only, you can donate as little as $3.99 to receive this gift.

We also offer posters, cycling jerseys and caps as premiums for your support.

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY

Dazzled in Durham

We were delighted to meet face to face with our jersey suppliers last weekend at the Major Taylor Convention in Durham, N.C., where we got to present "Major Taylor Myths, Mysteries and Mistakes."

Kudos to the Major Taylor Cycling Club of North Carolina and the Major Taylor International Cycling Alliance for four days of outstanding rides, social events, and learning opportunities.

Save the date: Author/illustrator Fred Noland will speak -- and sign copies of his graphic nonfiction book "Major Taylor" -- Sept. 9 at the Major Taylor Museum in Worcester, Mass. The book comes out in September.

Tailwinds,
