Raleigh, N.C. – Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) and House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) today announced majority staff directors for the Joint Legislative Commission on Governmental Operations (Gov Ops).
Derrick Welch will lead the Senate's majority staff on Gov Ops. Welch is the former Chief of Staff for the New Mexico Higher Education Department. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico and is finishing his dissertation for his Doctorate in Public Administration from Valdosta State University. He is a member of the American Society for Public Administrators. Welch began work this week.
Welch said, "I'm excited to lead the Senate majority's oversight staff. North Carolina is a top destination for employers and families, and they deserve a state government that operates efficiently and effectively."
Joe Coletti will lead House Speaker Tim Moore’s Office on Gov Ops. Coletti previously headed the North Carolina Government Efficiency and Reform initiative within the Office of State Budget and Management, which led to changes in automotive fleet management, natural and cultural resources, and state contracting. Coletti has spent his career improving operations and strategies at for-profit, nonprofit, and government entities. He has degrees from Johns Hopkins SAIS and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Coletti began work this week and said, “I'm excited to lead the Speaker’s oversight staff. I look forward to working with the team to make state government more effective, efficient, and accountable.”
