Make 2019 the Year You Bring Balance to Your Life
The pressure to make resolutions to better ourselves every time the calendar turns over to a new year can have the opposite effect, making us depressed as we think about all the other resolutions we’ve failed to keep in the past.
So this year, don’t make any resolutions. Instead, make a promise to yourself that this is the year you will bring balance to your life, especially if you’ve been thrown off-balance by a divorce.

Here are some ways you can fulfill your promise:
Move more.
If you want to move on, then you need to move more. Physical activity improves both body and brain. You don’t need a gym membership; you just need to find spaces that bring you pleasure and then move in them! Whether it’s the woods, the beach, the park, or a city street -- walking through places that inspire you can make a big difference in how you feel about yourself and the world.
" Life is a balance of holding on and letting go. "
~ Keith Urban
Create more.
What is your talent? Everyone has one, so whether yours is singing, dancing, writing, painting, planting, cooking, or [fill in the blank], it’s time to reclaim your creativity! When you are creating something, you discover more about yourself and feed your self-confidence. You can be your own greatest work of art, so go ahead and create!
Comfort more.
Are you comfortable in your own space or do bad memories haunt your home? Your living space should feed your soul, so if it is not doing that job, it’s time to make a change! Get rid of that old bed and get a new one you can sink into. Buy luxury covers and sheets that make you feel pampered. Buy new art for your walls, change up your lamps, or just get a new plant that brings new life into the room. Changing your living space to be more comforting can change your inner space as well.
Celebrate more.
This year, make it a priority to focus on what is truly important: spending time with family and friends. Start a new habit of meeting up with the people who make you happiest at least once a week for coffee, cocktails, a meal, or a movie. Just make sure you also schedule some alone time for yourself to relax and unwind, focused on nothing more than a hot bubble bath and a nice glass of wine. If you take good care of yourself, you’ll be able to take better care of your family and friends.
The one person you will live with the longest is yourself. Make that life as meaningful as possible by doing more to create and celebrate all that you are, or can be.

#TBT Transition Time
Every year I buy a new box of crayons… for myself. The smell of the newly opened box takes me back to the stress-less days of my childhood. Potential waiting in the pointed colorful tips. I relish the back to school season. New teachers for the girls, the starting again of routine and schedules, more structure and activity to the days as compared to the laze of summer, and a clean slate for the school year ahead.

But I confess that getting back into routine is a challenge.   Keep Reading

Confidence Comes Calling

The enthusiasm is palpable. I see energy in the actions. The new gym membership. The new meditation practice. The new juicer. My coaching calendar fills with appointments.

Recovering from the holiday hullabaloo, we set our sights on the year ahead. Some set SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-based) goals. Some identify intentions. Some resolve to be better or do better. Read More
