When Hiro, 5, wished to visit Walt Disney World® Resort, he hoped to meet Mickey Mouse and go to Legoland. Living with a brain tumour, Hiro was isolated for almost a year during treatment, and hasn't spent a lot of time outside. For him this trip meant fun and adventure, but for Hiro's mom, Aimee, it was so much more than a vacation.
This wish experience changed us in so many ways. For once, we didn't have to worry about Hiro. For once we got to leave behind the life we've been living for over a year and for once he got to be a kid again.
"The wish trip was such an amazing thing for our kids to go through, because as much as this was Hiro's journey, our other son also walked the road with him. And they got to have something that was just for them. We don't have the luxury of taking time for granted, and this trip just added to the moments we will remember always. We are grateful to everyone that does this everyday for thousands of kids."
