Today, we're launching our 2018 Year-End Campaign!

Dear Friend:
Today we are launching our 2018 Year-End Campaign. Our goal is to help more underserved victims find shelters and resources and to grow our violence prevention and outreach programs. With your support, we can continue to fund our educational, media, and advocacy programs and make a real and lasting impact in the lives of all abuse victims. We simply can't do it without you!
Would you be willing to make a year-end donation of $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to help us make our year-end goals?
If you haven't contributed yet, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to SAFE. We are far from reaching our year-end goal. If you donate before midnight on December 31st, you will receive a 2018 tax receipt.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Sr. VP of Programs
Stop Abuse For Everyone

By supporting SAFE, you will become part of the movement to stop abuse for everyone. Together, we can ensure that ALL victim of domestic violence will have the resources they need and deserve; regardless of their gender, race, sexual preference, or age.
|
|
|
SAFE is unique from other organizations because we have a
National Directory of Shelters and Services
specifically for underserved victims of intimate partner violence who are having problems finding a shelter that will take them. SAFE is consistently adding new shelters and resources to our directory as they become available.
|
|
Education and public awareness is an important aspect of our work. SAFE educates the general public, health organizations, criminal justice agencies, and service providers on violence prevention. SAFE was selected as one of only 50 promising strategy programs in the nation to prevent domestic violence by the National Crime Prevention Council.
|
|
SAFE continues to add new national leading experts to our
Speaker's Bureau
. Our experts keep the public updated and informed with accurate, balanced, objective information on the issue of;
domestic violence
,
bullying
,
dating violence
,
sibling abuse
, and
elder abuse
. They are available for key note presentations, lectures, panel discussions, media spots, and conferences, as well as, staff in-services and school events.

|
Additionally, SAFE has been active in the media spreading awareness on radio shows and news interviews. We have sent out numerous press releases over the past year. We spread awareness through social networking campaigns, our weekly e-newsletter, and our fundraisers.
|
|
Through our educational, media, and training programs, we inform the public on what to do if they become a victim. SAFE strives to address individual concerns and provide information to fill in the gaps in domestic violence services. We also have advocacy programs to bring awareness of issues to community leaders/policymakers on legislative reforms.

Since 2014, SAFE has had a very successful
internship program
which offers several internship opportunities for energetic, talented, and highly motivated university students and recent graduate students. SAFE has partnered with colleges and universities to give their students the opportunity to earn college credit for their internship hours.

SAFE has recently came out with our SAFE App available for both Android and Apple devices. The app focuses on our National Directory of Shelters. From our app, you will be able to find an inclusive shelter near you, leave a review of the shelter, recommend shelters to be added to our app, and read more about SAFE.

We have held 3 John’s Incredible Pizza Fundraisers throughout the year; in February, July & October. They have all been a huge success! Our interns informed local community members about SAFE's mission and goals while raising money. We handed out our educational brochures and flyers and talked to families about our anti-bullying program. The fundraisers were also promoted on the KGET channel.

|
SAFE participated in the Dia de la Familia event sponsored by the Central Valley Farmworker Foundation. There were over 2000 people in attendance. SAFE spoke to community members, legislators, school districts, and the media about violence prevention. We had educational brochures available on dating violence, bullying, and more.

SAFE interns had a great time attending the “2018 SAFE Trunk or Treat” event that was hosted by the Bakersfield Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Our interns passed out candy to the over 1000 trick or treaters. SAFE was able to network with local businesses and community organizations and spread awareness of our mission and goals.
