Congratulations to members of the WT Livestock Judging and Meat Judging teams who competed at the National Meat Animal Evaluation contest in Lubbock.

WTAMU Student Named TCFA BIN Recipient

Student Weston Peters, was recently selected to participate in the Texas Cattle Feeders Association's Collegiate Build, Integrate, Network (B.I.N.) Program.


This program allows students to be fully immersed in the cattle feeding industry, while also providing them with opportunities for leadership, professional growth and networking.


B.I.N. participants are mentored by a current TCFA committee member and are able to attend several noteworthy events including committee meetings, TCFA’s annual Convention, Beef Showcase, and Summer Meeting.

Faculty Welcomes Baby Buff

Congratulations to WTAMU Assistant Professor of Animal Science,

Dr. JP Andrade and his wife Fabiana Andrade on welcoming the newest buff to the family, Helena Andrade.


Helena was born on March 31st and has three older siblings: Mateus, Maria and Teresa.

30th Annual Tulane Environmental Law & Policy Summit

WTAMU Professor of Environmental Science, Dr. Jim Rodgers, spoke at the 30th Annual Tulane Environmental Law & Policy Summit on March 28-29 in New Orleans.


The theme for this year's conference was "Community and Resilience." This event included keynote speakers, international and local professionals and locals to discuss legal policy and environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, endangered species and wetland loss.


Dr. Rodgers presented on the topic: "Environmental Science/Risk Assessment and Imminent and Substantial Endangerment."


This event was hosted by the Environmental and Energy Society of Tulane University Law School.


WTAMU Assistant Department Head and Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, Dr. Erik Crosman, also presented on this topic in an expanded format to the Tulane University Law School on March 25th.

WT English Equestrian Team Places at Zone Championships

Congratulations to the English Equestrian Team who placed 3rd at the Zone Championship in Roscoe, IL on March 29th.


At the show, team members competed in both flat and fence riding. Flat riding describes competition on the flat (without jumps), during which riders are judged primarily on their control and seat position. Alternatively, fence riding involves navigating jumps. In fences classes, both the rider and horse are judged on their ability to maneuver the jumps.


The Zone Championship was the team's final step before heading to the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship.
