Seminar: Harassment Prevention - Protecting Your Business and Yourself in the #MeToo Era (Morning & Afternoon Sessions)
|
The reputation damage caused by harassment claims can be long-lasting and costly.
- In this scenario-packed session, Stuart Jackson of Wright Lindsey Jennings will discuss:What is and is not “actionable” harassment (and why you should be concerned with both types);
- Best practices for businesses to follow to avoid harassment claims or lawsuits;
- The important role supervisors and managers play; and
- The danger to employers from retaliation claims – even when the underlying claim of harassment is found to be without merit.
As part of the seminar, you also will be provided a model anti-harassment policy to consider incorporating into your employee handbook.

It's Happening! Medical Marijuana in the Arkansas Workplace
In this session, Stuart Jackson of Wright Lindsey Jennings will explore the implications of Arkansas’ medical marijuana law in the workplace. Jackson will offer an overview of the current law and what to expect as medical marijuana becomes available, including:
Protections for “qualifying patients” in the hiring, termination and discipline processes, and how employee protections under the FMLA and ADA might come into play;
How to determine which jobs have safety-sensitive functions and what to do when a person in that type of job starts using medical marijuana; and
A to-do list to prepare your workplace, including questions to consider when developing a medical marijuana policy.
Jackson will also explore various scenarios businesses may face involving applicants and employees who are certified for medical marijuana.
This session is geared toward business owners, HR professionals and upper-level management.

Congratulations to Mishelle Field Cauldwell with United Federal Credit Union on being selected as our Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce - Ambassador of the Month for May 2019!
As Branch Manager at United’s Rogers Avenue location, Mishelle leads her team to deliver an outstanding experience by building lifelong relationships with Members. She is responsible for providing first-class products and services, as well as setting the bar for what it means to be part of Team United. Mishelle has been with United for nearly nine years of her 18-year banking career, and has a passion for her community and helping others.
Mishelle enjoys volunteering and serving in the community and has lived here for over 31 years—currently in Fort Smith. She was previously named the Ambassador of the year for the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
