April  27, 2017

Dear Friends,

Thank you to the nearly 200 community members who joined me last night at William Wirt Middle School for my annual District 3 Town Hall and Resource Fair and to all those who watched my presentation online via Facebook Live.  If you weren't able to join us, or if you'd like to review the presentation again, you can view my PowerPoint slides here or watch the Facebook Live video here .

If you live in District 3, I hope you received my annual print newsletter in the mail within the past two weeks. If you didn't receive one or would like to read it again, you can read it online.

TONIGHT! Share your feedback on the proposed Purple Line station art!
While we wait for the final decision of Judge Leon on the Purple Line, much work is still happening. Station design, workforce development planning, and station art continues to move forward.

Please share your thoughts on the art and branding at the Purple Line stations in our community at an Art in Transit Open House, TONIGHT, Thursday, April 27, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., at the College Park Community Center. During the Open House, and on-line at the Purple Line website, you can view and comment on the artists' concept boards for  station art.

At my Town Hall and in my print newsletter, I shared information about the County budget. I encourage you to engage in the budget process by attending a budget hearing on Tuesday, May 2, or Monday, May 8. Both will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the 1st Floor Council Hearing Room at the County Administration Building, 14741 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, Upper Marlboro.

The Council appropriated $500,000 in FY 2017 grant funding to support programs serving the housing, counseling, or advocacy needs of County residents who are victims of domestic violence and other forms of abuse.  Prevention activities will also be supported through a coordinated and collaborative community response to this critical issue. The grant application is available now and is due on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. A second pre-proposal conference will be held on Thursday, May 4, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 2027 in the County Administration Building. Please click here for detailed information.

As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me or a member of my staff if we can assist you in any way.

Together Strengthening our Community,
