In an effort to reduce our environmental footprint and promote sustainability, we will not be providing new T-shirts for this year’s Day of Caring. Instead, we encourage participants to wear T-shirts from previous years or a bright colored t-shirt that reflects one of United Ways NEW brand colors. This decision aligns with our commitment to minimizing waste, conserving resources, and supporting a more eco-conscious event.

Who is ALICE? And Why Does This Demographic Matter?

Did you know that many hardworking families in the Yampa Valley struggle to afford the basics—housing, childcare, food, and healthcare—despite being employed? These families are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), and they play a vital role in keeping our communities running.

Join us for an important discussion on the ALICE Report, where we’ll dive into:

  • How ALICE is calculated (survival budgets, housing costs, and income)
  • Why recognizing this demographic is crucial for our community
  • Studies and resources available to support ALICE families

Understanding ALICE is the first step toward creating solutions. Let’s work together to build a stronger, more resilient Yampa Valley!

New Trades Scholarship Program!

The United Way of the Yampa Valley (UWYV) is excited to introduce the Skilled Trades Scholarship Program, which aims to empower individuals in Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt Counties by providing financial support for training in high-demand skilled trades. We are dedicated to addressing workforce gaps, fostering financial stability, and promoting regional economic development. Thanks to a generous donation from AES Solar and matching donor funds, UWYV in cooperation with regional partners will offer scholarships for certifications, licensing, and training in career fields such as welding, cosmetology, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and landscaping.
