Annual Federal Legislative Trip Promotes Enid
The Enid Chamber federal legislative trip to Washington, D.C. is scheduled for May 13-16. Meetings at the Pentagon and meetings with our Oklahoma Congressional Delegation are planned. The Enid Chamber and the City if Enid will also host a legislative reception. The legislative trip is a great opportunity to support Vance AFB and discuss federal issues that impact Enid and Northwest Oklahoma.

"It's important to have a consistent effort to support Vance Air Force Base. That has proven to be very beneficial for the Base and the community over the years," said Jon Blankenship, Enid Chamber President/CEO.

The Enid group will include Military Liaison Mike Cooper, Chamber leadership, City of Enid officials, and representatives from ERDA, Enid Public Schools, Autry Technology Center, and local businesses.

Discussion topics will include infrastructure projects to support increased pilot training production at Vance, air space protection, Kaw Lake Pipeline Project, healthcare and education.

What qualities do you look for in a leader?: Someone who cares about the outcome and actively participates in achieving the goals.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?: I think I am fairly good at finding fun things to do, so maybe I could get a medal for "fun activity finder."

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?: The best advice I have ever received is to lead by example. If you want people to follow your lead, you must be willing to work just as hard or harder than they do.
What qualities do you look for in a leader?: A leader should be willing to get their hands dirty. If they want people to follow them, they can't lead from a pedestal.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?: I just returned from a vacation in Arizona and spent 14 hours behind the wheel of a car. So, if endurance driving could be included in the Olympics, I think I could win a medal.
