August 2020
Here in Kenosha, most of our restaurants, shops, and attractions have re-opened. While in Wisconsin, individuals are now required to wear face coverings when indoors and not in a private residence, with some exceptions. View this list for changes to services at Kenosha Area tourism businesses. It's always best to contact a business directly for any restrictions they may have. We ask everyone to please adhere to social distancing and health guidelines. If you live in or near Kenosha, here are some ideas of how to Be A Tourist In Your Own Town:
FUN - GREAT LAKE STYLE
Get on Lake Michigan! Go fishing with the Kenosha Charter Boat Association. Rent a kayak, fishing kayak, or stand up paddle board on select days of the week from the Kenosha Community Sailing Center. Go sailing with Sail Away Charters or the Tall Ship Red Witch (or its sister boat - America's Cup Sailboat Jakab).
MORE FUN OUTDOORS
Play golf or disc golf. Soar through the trees at Boundless Adventures. Take advantage of the 130+ miles of bike trails that are in Kenosha County. Enjoy auto races at Wilmot Raceway. Attend baseball games at the 100-year-old Simmons Field; the Kenosha Kingfish are playing the newly formed K-Town Bobbers this altered season.
NEW RESTAURANTS
The new Apis Hotel & Restaurant is now open in Downtown Kenosha (its rooftop deck is shown here); its sister restaurants are Buzz Café, Sazzy B, and The Garage. The Down Town’R Saloon also has opened this year. Its sister restaurant is Kaiser’s Pizza & Pub. El Camino Kitchen is opening soon on Highway 50. It’s related to Waterfront Warehouse and La Fogata Mexican Grill. Watch for PUBLIC Craft Brewing Co. to open at its new expanded location this month.
CANDY SALE
Jelly Belly Candy Company has been a long-time partner of the Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau – even before Jelly Belly Visitor Center opened in 2001. We are sad to see the center close. As a year-round free family activity near the Interstate, many special memories were created there over the years. Before it closes, you can enjoy one more sale! The store closing sale is underway now and will continue as supplies last.
FROM FARM TO TABLE
You can support the vendors of the new Kenosha Public Market by shopping in person each Saturday or you can shop the KPM2GO Online Store (orders must be placed between Monday at noon and Thursday at noon). View all Farmers Markets> The Country Store at Jerry Smith Produce & Pumpkin Farm is open daily with fresh produce, including homegrown sweet corn and pumpkins. The farm is also the proud growers of Somers Harvest CBD products, which include bath & body products and pet treats.
