Frank Edward Hoxie, 69, of Bristol, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, March 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Frank was the devoted husband of 25 years to Deanna (Messerschmidt) Hoxie.
Frank was born on October 24, 1955 in Winsted, CT son to the late Clifford and Freda (White) Hoxie. Raised in Winsted, he attended local schools and following high school graduation, he began his career as a machinist with Superior Electric, where he devoted 20 years of his life to honing his craft, before continuing his journey until retirement at Trumpf for another 20 years. His passion for his work and craftsmanship made him a respected member of the manufacturing community, and it is through this commitment that Frank left an indelible mark.
Known affectionately as "Mr. Fix-It," his remarkable talent in carpentry, building, and fixing made him a true craftsman; he could turn any project into a work of art and was always willing to lend a helping hand, enjoying his time spent on helping family and friends working on their cars. He completed his “life project” four years ago during his retirement, his Willys Jeep, that he proudly showcased at car shows and cruises throughout CT and surrounding states with his wife by his side.
A devoted man of faith, Frank was an active member of the Congregational Church of Plainville, where he found solace and purpose in the spirit of fellowship. He also frequented the Asbury United Methodist Church, where his kindness and gentle demeanor touched the lives of many.
Frank was a passionate musician, known for his skillful guitar playing and his warm, inviting voice. He found immense joy in sharing his love for music with others. He cherished the time spent camping with his family; Papa and Grammy loved and appreciated their yearly “Grands” camping weekend with their grandchildren, forming lasting memories filled with laughter and stories. In addition, Frank enjoyed landscaping with his brother-in-law, David, a hobby that kept him busy in retirement.
In our sadness, we take comfort in knowing that Frank's spirit will live on in the lives he touched. His laughter, generosity, and devotion to family will be remembered and celebrated forever.
In addition to his wife, Deanna, Frank is survived by his children, Adriana Hoxie (Robert Smith), Tiffany Hoxie, and Jordan Hoxie (Rebecca Watson); his step-children, Scott Kohl and Shannon Gamble (Rich); his grandchildren, Donovan, Destiny, Peyton, Kaylee, Augustus, Avielle, Raena, Guinevere and Noah; his siblings, Clifford Hoxie (Bobbie Lasch), Doreen Parsons (Bob), Dane Hoxie (Susan), Donna Hall (David), and Clinton Hoxie (Teresa Stacy); his former spouse, friend and mother of his children, Lynne Whitney; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11 AM at the Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC, 130 W Main St, Plainville, CT 06062. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Frank always wore flannel shirts, in honor of this, we would like everyone to wear a flannel shirt, if you have one, to show our love for him. There are no calling hours and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Donations in memory of Frank may be made to The Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC, 130 West Main Street, Plainville, CT 06062 (uccplainville.org) for the “Save our Steeple” campaign.
