5:00 - 7/8:00 PM - Saratoga Stakes Scavenger Hunt: Discover more in Saratoga Springs with a free self-guided scavenger hunt around downtown Saratoga hosted by Workshop and co-hosted by ADARA! No need to sign up - just meet us at the Holiday Inn Saratoga at 5:00 PM and uncover hidden gems and iconic landmarks! Thank you to our 2024 Tourism Champions! Your support from over 40 destinations allowed us to expand our schedule, adding more events and increasing our presence with three active booth setups at multiple locations. We exceeded our goal of 18 travel shows, returning to the NYS Fair and expanding our reach to Canada, including Montreal and Quebec. We also brought the Tourism Champions booth to member events and shared updates in the weekly NYSTIA newsletter. As we gear up for 2025, we're excited to elevate the program further. Please review the 2025 Tourism Champions agreement and consider joining us for an even bigger impact next year.

Yesterday afternoon, a NYSTIA team led by Bob Provost and including Josiah Brown from New York's Best Experiences, Amanda Dana from Visit Orange County, NY, and Ana Liss from Monroe County Economic Development presented the 2024 New York State Association of Counties in Sullivan County. Their topic, Tourism, IDAs, and the Local Economy: A Data Discussion, shared facts on tourism and how local IDA’s are driving growth across the state. | |
Schoharie County: An Unexpected 2023 Tourism Hotspot Saving Residents $997 a Year! |
Schoharie County may be known for its scenic farmland and quiet charm, but recent data shows its tourism sector is a major economic force! In 2023, visitors spent $106 million in the county, resulting in a $997 tax break for each household. The Central New York region, which includes Schoharie, saw $5 billion in direct tourism spending, with local highlights including $40 million in lodging and $19 million in food and beverage sales.

The Fall Path Through History Weekends will be held October 12-14, and all sites hosting events during that time are invited to participate. A unique event is welcome but not required—any location open to visitors interested in New York history can register. Governor Hochul Celebrates the Historic Designation of New York’s First National Marine Sanctuary at Lake Ontario |
Governor Kathy Hochul recently celebrated the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) historic designation of the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. The Lake Ontario Sanctuary will become only the 16th site in the National Marine Sanctuary System and the first to be designated off New York State’s coast.
