The coming weeks bring a wonderful calendar of events, performances, exhibitions, and seasonal activities throughout Stockbridge and the surrounding Berkshires. Explore the gardens at Naumkeag and Chesterwood, enjoy concerts at Tanglewood, take in a theater performance, or simply slow down and enjoy the charm of a quintessential New England village.

And then comes fall, when the landscape takes center stage. Experience brilliant foliage, scenic roads and trails, farm-to-table dining, and the many special events that make autumn in the Berkshires so memorable.

Bidwell House Museum Free events

• September 13 | 9–11 a.m. Native Tree and Shrub Identification and Ecological Forestry Concepts. Explore the woodland trails at Bidwell House Museum with forester Tom Ryan of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The free walk covers tree and shrub identification, carbon sequestration, climate, wildlife habitat and adaptive forestry. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles.
• September 20 | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. A Ramble in the Woods at the Bidwell House Museum Richard Greene leads a guided walk through the woods surrounding the museum, sharing the area's history, local wildlife and natural landscape. The walk covers approximately 2.5 miles.
• September 26 | 10 a.m. Trodding on the Knox Trail – In Celebration of MA 250

Chesterwood Experience the home, studio, and gardens of renowned sculptor Daniel Chester French.

• August 28 & 29 | 6 p.m. Heirloom Fire Dinner: The Patriots Table Immersive culinary and cultural evening on the grounds of Chesterwood. A theatrical open-fire dinner inspired by Abraham Lincoln's Inaugural Banquet, in collaboration with Heirloom Fire and Taylored & Thyme. Chef: James Gop.
• September 3 | Nejaime’s Wine Seminar: Spain — Rediscover Faustino Rioja — 5:30–7 p.m. on the Studio Piazza.
• September 6 | 3 p.m. ArtsAlive Salsa Dance Party with Manolo Mairena and his Salsa Band

Norman Rockwell Museum offers an inspiring journey into the world of American illustration through the beloved works of Norman Rockwell. 

• August 29 | 10 a.m. & 3 p.m. Guided Walking Tour of Historic Stockbridge, exploring the places and people that inspired Norman Rockwell's iconic paintings.
• August 29, September 5 | 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Summer Saturdays features hands-on artmaking activities for all ages inspired by American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell. 
• September 3 | 5:30 p.m. Ron Ramsay’s Berkshire Music Salon Series at NRM Presented in conjunction with American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell, this series explores how artists and songwriters have shaped the American imagination over the past 250 years.
• The major exhibition American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell continues to draw visitors exploring the American experience through art and illustration. 

Stockbridge Library Museum & Archives offers plenty of reasons to stop in during late summer, from children's activities and author and humanities programs to rotating art exhibitions.

• August 29 | 3–4 p.m. — Moral Technology and Cultural Memory: Humanities Education as the Framework for a Democratic Society with Michael Rosenthal

• Through September 30 — Kayak Loan Program, a partnership with the Town of Stockbridge, with kayaks available for use on Stockbridge Bowl. 
• The library's September programming gets underway with September Cookbook Club on September 3 and children's programming continuing into the fall.

Susan B Anthony Birthplace Museum (Adams)

• September 26 & October 31 | 3 p.m. Afternoon Tea and Vintage Tweets: Suffrage Era Postcards with Carol Crossed Drawing from her collection of more than 400 authentic postcards from the suffrage era, Carol Crossed explores how postcards were used to debate women’s rights, abolition, temperance, and social change in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Based on her book, Vintage Tweets: Suffrage Era Postcards, this engaging presentation offers a fascinating glimpse into the past through rare images, surprising stories, and a touch of humor.

Ventfort Hall Mansion & Gilded Age Museum (Lenox)  Late-summer programming includes Tea & Talk programs and seasonal tea service, while ghostly happenings return as fall approaches.

Berkshire Theatre Group's late summer and fall 2026 calendar features intimate theatrical runs at The Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge and high-energy concerts and comedy acts at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield.

• At the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, Lovesong continues through August 29. Written by Abi Morgan, this moving drama weaves together past and present as younger and older versions of a couple reflect on a lifetime of love, memory, and enduring commitment.

Jacob’s Pillow — Festival Week 10 | August 26- 30 (Becket) features an exciting lineup of dance, music, and free community programming.

• Performances: Hubbard Street Dance Chicago takes the Ted Shawn Theatre stage Wednesday through Sunday with a dynamic mixed-repertoire program featuring Nacho Duato’s Gnawa, works by Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse, and Aszure Barton’s LubDub (2026).
• Classes & Workshops: Morning classes are offered Wednesday–Friday from 9–10 a.m. in Sommers Studio, featuring Modern/Contemporary, West African Dance & Spiritual Well-Being, and Ballet. On Sunday, August 30, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago leads a workshop on the Ted Shawn Theatre stage from 10–11:30 a.m.
• Talks: Pre-show talks are held 30 minutes before each Ted Shawn Theatre performance, with a post-show talk on Friday afternoon. PillowTalk: Dianne McIntyre and Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell join Maura Keefe for a conversation on Saturday, August 29 at 4 p.m. in Blake’s Barn.

The Lion's Den offers live music throughout the week with performances by:

• August 28 | 7 p.m. Katherine Winston Singer-songwriter Katherine Winston blends country, folk/rock, and pop, drawing inspiration from artists including Stevie Nicks, Brandi Carlile, and Dolly Parton.

• August 30 | 7 p.m. Chatham County Line The North Carolina-based band brings its blend of bluegrass, folk, country, and rock to the Lion’s Den.

• September 18 | 8 p.m. | Indigo Room, Indigo Comedy Night with Matt Goldich The longtime Late Night with Seth Meyers writer and performer brings his stand-up to the Indigo Room.
• September 19 | 8 p.m. | Indigo Room, Nine Days Acoustic The duo behind “Absolutely (Story of a Girl)” performs an intimate acoustic set.

Shakespeare & Company (Lenox)

• September 1 - 3 | 7 p.m. Midsummer Dreamers Blending the poetry of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with physical theater, aerial performance, and rambunctious comedy, Midsummer Dreamers reimagines Shakespeare’s classic as a surreal, seductive journey through a couple’s subconscious. Performed by just two actors, this 90-minute whirlwind explores love, resentment, reconciliation, and the mysterious forces that shape our inner worlds
• September 4 - October 4 | 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. The Norwegians Set in a Minnesota bar where heartbreak is served alongside beer, The Norwegians is a sharp, surprising dark comedy about love gone wrong—and the lengths we go to set things right. Betty and Olive, two women reeling from romantic betrayal, hatch an unlikely plan: hiring a pair of Norwegian hitmen to deal with the men who wronged them.
• Hamlet, continues through August 30 Shakespeare's timeless tragedy follows a young prince haunted by his father's ghost as he confronts betrayal, revenge, and the search for truth in a world of deception.
