Prayer Power Tips Seeking the Desire of our Soul

On the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle C) we heard the gospel about Martha serving and Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus (Lk 10:38-42). The Pastor at my parish gave a wonderful homily reminding us that within each of us is an instinctual desire to seek the Truth, to crave that Wisdom which infuses our soul with goodness and peace. He paired that desire with the responsibility we have to seek Truth! Virtue of Study, Fr. Mark White An Adoration Chapel is a great place to sneak away for some quiet time to seek that Truth. Even just sitting in a church or in a natural setting can help us regain spiritual perspective. Bring along some spiritual reading that you have been meaning to enjoy. You may even want to bring some current events topics to read in the presence of our Lord; then listen for his sweet and gentle guidance like Mary did as she sat with him.

John Michael Talbot has created some amazing music all centered around Wisdom! My mother was a huge fan, and played his music constantly when I was young. It has become a part of the fabric of my interior life! Some of my favorites are his musical renditions of The Book of Wisdom! I Sought the Lord - John Michael Talbot (YouTube) While we have a break from lesson planning and children underfoot, we have a perfect opportunity to dive into that beautiful book. Even if you, dear reader, have your own children underfoot over the summer, consider taking an hour alone to sit at our Lord's feet, and seek Wisdom and Truth. Read the book of Wisdom at Adoration and have yourself a mid-summer Pentecost! Pray Well!!
