Welcome back educators!

We know that a new school year is exciting but also daunting – the challenges are many. Finding resources shouldn’t be one of them. The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is committed to getting teachers what they need to talk to students about the impact the Oklahoma City bombing had on our world and why it still matters today.

Our digital collection of resources and standards-aligned lesson plans is growing and easy to pull into the classroom. However, nothing compares to a visit to the Memorial and Museum where the power of learning the lessons of resilience, hope, justice, and the Oklahoma Standard impacts students like few experiences can.

Currently, we are offering scholarships for field trips. We cover the price of admission for students, teachers and a certain number of chaperones depending on the number of students. The State has allocated money for transportation! We want every teacher in Oklahoma to see it for themselves, so we are inviting you and your family to visit this semester for FREE. Whether you are new to the State, are just starting your career in education, or have been bringing your classes to the Memorial and Museum already – take advantage of our invitation by signing up for your free tickets today.

May this school year be full of learning important lessons!

TEACHERS VISIT FOR FREE!

Don’t miss out on your opportunity to visit for FREE with your loved ones. For this semester only, we are offering up to four tickets to every educator in the State. The lessons learned from the Oklahoma City bombing are as relevant today as they have ever been, but teaching the next generation these lessons becomes more difficult as time passes. We want you to see first-hand how we can help.

Use the button below to book your visit and you'll show your valid teacher ID at the admissions desk.

DID YOU KNOW?

In 2010 the State Senate voted unanimously in favor of House Bill 2750 to ensure that Oklahoma students will be taught the important lessons of the Oklahoma City bombing. This legislation not only mandates that the event be part of the core social studies curriculum but also gives teachers the opportunity to talk to their students about challenging topics, such as domestic terrorism, civic responsibility, justice, and the Oklahoma Standard.

The Bill was signed inside the Memorial Museum in April, 2010 by then Governor Brad Henry. He was joined by Memorial Chairman John Riches, State Superintendent of Schools Sandy Garrett, Chancellor Glen Johnson, State Representative and Family Member Susan Winchester (back row), and authors of the bill, Representative Lee Denney and Senator Ron Justice (front row).

LESSON PLANS FOR YOUR CLASSROOM

We have free lesson plans for all ages to help you teach our story and the lessons we learned in your classroom!

Our newest lesson is a video we made with Mayor David Holt, his kids George and Maggie and with our affiliated partner the National Park Service. George and Maggie tell the story of April 19, 1995, through their perspective as kids who were not born when the bombing happened.

We love seeing students be able to learn about and connect with the story! The video was designed with elementary and middle school age students in mind, but it great is for all ages.
