City of waterloo neighbourhoods: strong and connected.

Be a good neighbour!

Neighbours gather on the grass with blankets and folding chairs in front of a movie screen

Being neighbourly is about the little things, like greeting your neighbours, sharing resources and reaching out to those in need.

  • Wave hello and show you care with small gestures like offering to water your neighbour's plants while they're on vacation.
  • Join your local neighbourhood association or homeowners' association to connect with your neighbours.
  • Plan something for your neighbourhood, like an outdoor movie night!

Check out the Being Neighbourly guide for more tips!

Have a great neighbour? Nominate them for the Neighbourhood Kindness program. We'll send them a special thank-you gift!

Street lined with trees with orange and yellow leaves

🙂 Smile corner 🙂

Fall for fall! Spread smiles by getting outside and enjoying the changing leaves on your street, at your neighbourhood park, or around your building.

Share with us what makes you smile! Submit a photo and a caption by replying to this email, and we might feature it in the Smile Corner of our next newsletter!

Get inspired

We all scream for ice cream!

Neighbours on a Waterloo crescent celebrated the end of summer with an ice cream social! Sharing over 100 scoops, neighbours chatted together while kids played and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

For many, it was an opportunity to meet neighbours and welcome new folks to the community.

Neighbours gather on a grassy area with trees and blue sky surrounding them.
