We are slated to record the week after Thanksgiving with both Noel Paul Stookey, of Peter, Paul and Mary fame, and Jonathan Edwards, well known for songs like "Sunshine" and "Shanty."

These two great folkies will be the last two performers we'll be collaborating with for our new project, tentatively titled "Sessions."

What we're coming to realize is that we have far too much material for a single CD, so it's looking like this project might be done in two volumes.

We've recorded with some of our long time folk heroes, including Bill Staines, Schooner Fare, Roger McGuinn, Gordon Bok, Dave Mallett and his sons Luke and Will, and Tom Paxton.

Songs so far include 500 Miles, Roll on Columbia, Sloop John B., The Ballad of St. Anne's Reel, I Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound, Four Strong Winds, The Water is Wide, Shenandoah, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, Day of the Clipper and a bunch more.

The project was possible only because of generous contributions from scores of people and we sincerely thank everyone who made it possible.

Visit for more information on the project.

The holidays are approaching and we have added to our Christmas repertoire. With the Rochester Opera House and Boothbay Harbor, we'll be focusing on the holidays, with new original holiday songs and some classics. We hope you join us for one or both shows.

Meanwhile, we've included some updates about current projects, including our latest recording "Sessions," as well as a JFK documentary and music commemorating the Sullivan Brothers.

And, of course, you're invited to join us for the best time of the year, our "land cruise" to the Bahamas.

Feb. 2-9, 2013: The Bahamas "land cruise"

The winter is upon us and you know what that means: shoveling the driveway, scraping the car, bundling up... but it doesn't have to be that way. Think of the kudos you'll get when your loved one unwraps an envelope on Christmas morning and finds that he or she will be going on a vacation to the Bahamas in the dead of cold and flu season.

Some might call it a land cruise, we call it an all inclusive resort vacation in the Bahamas. Join us Feb. 2-9, 2013 for an Irish music cruise minus the boat. Other than flights, everything is covered: luxury resort accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner, alcohol, water skiing, 24-hour snacks, kayaks, windsurfing... you name it.

We'll be joined by some of the best Irish and folk music performers around, like Evans and Doherty, Tom Sweeney, Mairtin de Cogain, Hanneke Cassel, Danny Quinn, Jez Lowe, Andy May and more to be announced.

For more information or booking, visit Irish Music Cruises, email Casey Travel or call (888) 564-7474.

JFK ------------------------------------------------------------------
A few years back we recorded some music for the documentary "The Kennedys, America's Emerald Kings." It was a complete look at the Kennedy family.

We are just starting another project with the same director, Robert Kline, of Enduring Freedom Productions. This film focuses on JFK's days as president. We have written a few original songs for it inspired by JFK and the 60s.

We'll provide more information as it becomes available.

The Sullivan Brothers -------------------------------------------
In April, we headed to Chicago for Tommy Makem's induction into the Irish American Hall of Fame.

While there we met with several descendants of the famous Sullivan Brothers, five brothers who all died as the result of one battle in World War II. After the tragedy, the U.S. Government started enforcing rules ensuring that nothing similar would ever happen again.

Mickey Spain penned a song in memory of the Sullivan Brothers. Our plan is to record it for the anniversary slated for 2013. We'll keep you up to date as that progresses.
Thanks for being part of the Makem and Spain Brothers' email newsletter. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming shows.
