HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY! Top o' the evenin' to ya! 🍀 (I don't have any Irish in me but I married into a big Irish/German clan). This St. Patrick's Day, I'm looking back on 'reimagined' homes with some charming (greyish) green exteriors that’ll make your neighbors green with envy...in the best way, of course. These redesigns are proof that a touch o’ green can transform a home into a treasure, blending sophistication with a wee bit of nature’s magic color.

BEFORE...

This home was a recent purchase for my clients. They knew they wanted something darker that would make the center stone area stand out.

AFTER (virtual)...

The clients showed me a few inspiration photos which helped to nail down their style. The dark greenish grey color really made the stone take center stage. They also provided some garage door images that they were interested in so the shutters were chosen to match. They just need to repaint/restain their front door to match. Bringing in some taller plants visually balances with the height of the home.

BEFORE...

I recently went through Hannibal, MO. It's full of beautiful old homes and we love to tour around and look at them. This one however felt unbalanced and I am compelled to re-imagine it. There was nothing to visually support the cantilevered area and that needed fixing in my opinion. The dark color looks top heavy too.

AFTER (virtual)...

Adding columns below the cantilever space made a big difference. I then neutralized the paint with 3 colors. The crisp white trim made all the details pop. Adding a stone wall would give the perfect location to bring in some nice landscaping.

BEFORE...

I think this home is cute but the light peach color just felt blah to me. The fence all the way around the front porch is not necessary. I would feel like I'm in a playpen when sitting on the front porch (which my husband and I do quite often).

AFTER (virtual)...

The shingles really warm up the look of the house and fits well with the natural green color. The contemporary door has windows which brings natural light to the inside. Sconce lighting adds a little bling and also brings the light off the ceiling.

BEFORE...

The is one of the more unique color combinations that I have seen...robin egg blue, rust and peach.

AFTER (virtual)...

Replacing the elaborate metal column with a craftsman style post was the first order of business. New garage doors, shutters and front door in a wood tone that coordinated with the brick made a big difference. Painting the center of the home in a contrasting cream color made the entry more of a feature. A greenish grey color is used as a nice contrast to the wood.

Hopefully you can use some of these tricks to

make your home more appealing to yourself or to Buyers.
