TEtH

BEFORE...

This image was on a Facebook post along with the an image of it remodeled. They painted all the brick white and everything else was painted black. This brick doesn't have a strong 'orangey' tone so it's more neutral than most brick, I don't think I would have changed it (especially being married to a former bricklayer). But that doesn't matter because it's not my house.

ON MY SOAPBOX:
A lot of people had very strong, and sometimes nasty, comments about painting the brick or painting the other areas black. It’s
not their house. They said things they would never say to the homeowner’s face— one of my biggest frustrations with social media. A few commenters raised a valid concern about paint affecting the physical integrity of the brick or it's ability to breathe, which are legitimate considerations. But most simply felt it was “disrespectful” to paint brick at all. That’s an opinion they’re free to hold—when it comes to their own home.

AFTER (virtual)...
Using contrasting colors highlights brick the brick. Making the entry white and adding a chunky corner post, made a great backdrop for a modern front door. After the paint, the only other purchase is a new globe light to go with the updated mid-century look...yet it still has a timeless feel with black, white and brick.

STILL ON MY SOAPBOX:

Many people think black windows and dark exteriors are a fad, but I disagree. It reminds me of when blue eyeshadow ruled, and the beauty industry introduced brown...people hated it at first! Fast forward, and brown is now a go-to classic color for eyes. Black/dark exteriors are in that same evolution: unfamiliar at first, but ultimately becoming a new standard of neutral.

Hopefully you can use some of these tricks to

make your home more appealing to yourself or to Buyers.
