State Restrictions Hamper On-Premise Traffic in December

The amount of consumers visiting the on-premise in the last two weeks dropped slightly to 50% after hitting 54% in November, likely due to tighter restaurant restrictions, according to a Nielsen CGA.

16% of consumers visited the on-premise for a drinking occasion in the last two weeks. The number is in line with the previous month and is expected to remain steady over the next two weeks.

The 21-34 age group remains the greatest contributor to on-premise drinking occasions and one in five from this cohort plans to go out to celebrate New Year’s. As consumer’s look to the New Year, nearly three in five are positive about the outlook of next year compared to this one.
