This month will be our final fiber arts club meeting on Thursdays. In the new year we are moving to the 2nd Monday of each month with the exception of June for the summer reading kickoff.

Also this month is our Needlefelt gifts class, where you can use our needlefelt supplies to make gifts for your friends and family. Registration is required for these two classes at Defiance and Sherwood.

Please note the MakerSpace will be closed the first week of December. The entire library will also be closed due to the holidays December 10 (11:30 -2:30), December 24-26th (All day), December 31st (at 12pm noon). Check the open make times or make an appointment if you would like to use the MakerSpace.

MakerSpace Spotlight

Needle Felt Supplies

Needlefelting is a process of tangling wool fibers together using a barbed needle that can grab the tiny fibers of wool. The MakerSpace has a few sizes of needlefelt needles to use for needlefelting. There are foam bases to work on and a small collection of wool roving colors to choose from. Also available to use are handles for the needles and protective leather finger covers to prevent pokes. Supplies and colors are available as long as they last.

The library also has a few books available on needle felting as well, that you can get inspiration from.

Contact the MakerSpace for 1-on-1 help and questions about Needlefelting. The supplies are available to use on a first-come, first-served basis during open make times or by appointment.

Sew Gift Bags

Check out this great video tutorial for sewing a gift bag. You can use leftover fabric and ribbon and make them for other holidays and events as well.
