The RSN StitchBank is a resource documenting embroidery and other hand stitches. The Royal School of Needlework started the bank in 2022 to celebrate 150 years since being founded. The RSN was founded in 1872 to ensure that hand-stitching techniques were saved for future generations.
Each stitch is labeled with the usage of that stitch and can be searched based on the embroidery craft you are doing. There are stitches throughout history on the database from canvas work, beadwork, or even needlepoint lace. You can also browse through all the stitches and select to learn more by clicking on the image of it. New stitches are being added as more lost to time are found and as more of the RSN collection is digitized.
You can even save stitches you are interested in, but beware it's not through an account but rather through browser cookies. If you use a different computer or clear your cache you will not be able to access your list.
