LCC DISASTER RESPONSE DEPLOYS TO KANSAS TO HELP FAMILIES WITH TORNADO RECOVERY
Last week, Kathy O’Day, LCC Director of Disaster Response and Donna Williams, Northeast Kansas District Disaster Response Coordinator , met in Basehor, Kansas with Pastor Jason Boetcher from Trinity Family in Faith and Pastor Robert Weinkauf from Risen Savior Lutheran Churches . LCC gave financial assistance to Pastor Boetcher to begin helping families with immediate needs. Your donations are needed to help families who have devastating home and property damage.
The group also discussed how Lutheran Early Response Teams (LERT) from Kansas and Northern Illinois Districts could work together to help those affected by an EF-4 tornado that went through Linwood and Bonner Springs. Lutheran Church Charities will be working in Kansas by invitation and support of Kansas District Disaster Response leaders the week of June 16 – 22, 2019.
LCC chainsaw LERT team members with heavy equipment will work with the Northeast Kansas District LERT teams out of Trinity Family in Faith. There have been several sites assessed that are in need of the advanced chainsaw skills and equipment that LCC LERT teams can bring. Many trees are twisted and broken, or have potential hanging branches, known as “widow makers,” that only a lift can reach on homeowners’ properties.
Homeowners have been told that chainsaw teams and equipment from other states in the area will be available the week of June 16 to do as much work as possible. They are appreciative of any assistance that can be given to them.

Please keep all of the tornado and flood impacted communities throughout the Midwest in your prayers, including all LCC Disaster Response volunteers and staff as we deploy to Kansas.
Please consider a donation to the  LCC Disaster Response Fund or LCC Equipment Maintenance and Fuel Expense Fund , so that we may continue to show the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need.
LCC K-9 MINISTRIES WELCOME NEW AFFILIATE HANDLERS
LCC was blessed to have 11 affiliates from seven different states represented during the Additional Handler training the weekend of June 8-9. LCC is happy to welcome these wonderful individuals who have been called to go out and serve their local communities to share the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those in need.
The handlers spent time learning new handling skills and building their knowledge about the ministry. God is with each of these handlers as they go out with their churches’ LCC K-9 Comfort Dog to share the compassion, joy, and presence of Jesus within their communities.

“Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:6-8

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE NEEDED TO RELOCATE AND REUNITE FAMILY MEMBERS FROM PAKISTAN
LCC received the following request from Rev. Karl Fay, Senior Pastor at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois:

We have a member family in our midst that has just been notified that seven family members in Pakistan (a family of six and a single woman) just got their U.S. visa application approved after more than a decade of waiting. They are hoping to move to this area in late August. The stateside family is ready to receive their extended family and help them get settled, but has very limited financial capacity to do so. On their behalf, we are asking for financial assistance of $15,000 to cover airfare, rent and living expenses for the first three months. Expenses begin as early as June.
Please prayerfully consider helping this family in need.

Peace in Christ,
Rev. Karl Fay, Senior Pastor
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church
Palatine, Illinois

LCC Thanks Donors for Helping Christ the King (Chicago, Illinois) Teacher With Car Repair
Thank you to all the donors who responded to the financial request from Christ the King Lutheran School in Chicago, Illinois to help replace a stolen catalytic converter from the car of one of the teachers. Rev. John Brazeal and Geri Brazeal, Principal at Christ the King ,   picked up the check on Sunday, June 9. The need has been met!

They were also grateful to receive donations of bath towels that they use in their ministry in reaching out to the community.
LCC Thanks Donors for Helping Salam Christian Fellowship Hire an Administrative Assistant
Thank you to all the donors who support the ministry of Pastor Hesham Shehab and Salam Christian Fellowship . Your generosity is enabling this growing ministry to take a step in faith and hire an administrative assistant. Amir is a computer whiz, fluent in Arabic and English. In addition to all he does in the office, he is also able to assist Pastor Shehab with providing social services to immigrant families in need. The fund needed for this year for the part-time position is $13,000. They hope that Salam will be able in the future to hire Amir full-time. Due to your donations, Pastor Shehab picked up a check toward the $13,000 goal on Sunday, June 9.
He was also grateful to receive a supply of books, “A Case for Easter” by Lee Strobel, which he will use for those seeking and wanting to know Jesus.
