With the goal of making Florida number one in solar installations Community Power Network and the Florida League of Women Voters have teamed up to launch Florida Solar United Neighborhoods. This nonprofit organization helps communities affordably participate in solar power initiatives through volume purchasing at substantial discounts. Deirdre Macnab, Immediate Past President of the LWVF and current LWVF Natural Resources Chair, will discuss how the expanded use of solar power throughout Florida provides families the ability to reduce their monthly utility costs and achieve measureable energy independence.

The LWVHC is honored to welcome Macnab who during her tenure as LWVF President made history by leading the effort to pass two state constitutional amendments ending gerrymandering. In 2012 Macnab was named the Most Influential Central Floridian of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel and awarded the Florida Achievement Award by the Florida Commission on the Status of Women.
