Contents: New Member Update, Other Member News, Chamber Spotlight & More
April 2020
This past week we saw continued progress being made to help mitigate the challenges of the Coronavirus. Additional Federal funding support of $500B was approved by Congress to replenish the PPP and other small business support programs. Here in Maine, Governor Mills shared her vision and the principles that will be used for re-opening our economy in the coming days and weeks. The City of Saco announced the launch of a Covid-19 Emergency Loan Fund program to help local small businesses (see below) and Biddeford is also working on new programs currently. And for a welcome sports-related distraction from all this difficult news lately, the Pats made progress too, trading their first-round pick for two later-round picks (Belichick zigs when others zag). Unimaginable losses are continuing, and our hearts go out to all those who are suffering locally and everywhere right now. But we also have new reasons every day to stay positive and remain optimistic about a brighter future soon. See below for opportunities to help out other members and the community, and more.
New Member Update

* AAA Detailing - This new business just off Route 1 on Millbrook Rd. in Saco will provide expert auto detailing services, featuring both interior and exterior cleaning of passenger vehicles. Opening day (and a ribbon cutting ceremony) will take place soon hopefully.

* Biddeford Auto Wash - This new member has a complete automated car wash service on Alfred Rd. in Biddeford, adjacent to Aroma Joe's. This time of year it's especially important to get all the salt off the undercarriage of your vehicle, so stop by soon!

Local Restaurant Options & Listings
Our local restaurants have continued to work hard to provide outstanding service throughout this period of physical distancing. Please consider giving them an opportunity to take care of a meal or two for you this weekend, they need your support now more than ever (and you could probably use a break from meal preparation by now!). Mother's Day Card to Help a Fellow Member
Esther Residence in Saco is a home that provides transitional support and services to women leaving incarceration or substance abuse programs. This caring organization that gets women back on their feet has an awesome annual fundraiser: they have created a custom Mothers Day card that you can order, and if you can provide any donation as part of that order, it's much appreciated. Call them at (207) 283-0323 to place your order.

Monthly Chamber Spotlight
Chamber Executive Director Jim LaBelle has spent way too much time alone this past month isolated from Members, and has sadly gone a bit stir-crazy as a result. One positive aspect of this though is he had a chance to sit down with himself recently for an interview (You read all the way through this newsletter and got to the bottom here, thank you! FYI this is slightly warped but with all the horrible news to get through lately, we're ending on something a little lighter here ... apologies in advance).
