In recent news, a report found that fewer than 60% of retail pharmacies stock buprenorphine, a lifesaving medication to treat opioid use disorder. Pharmacy staff can now fill prescriptions for buprenorphine for opioid use disorder without the x-waiver. Only the provider's DEA number is needed. On June 27, the new substance use education requirement went into effect for those applying for or renewing their DEA license. MACS ECHO Clinics count toward this 8-hour training requirement. Stay tuned for additional MACS trainings that meet this requirement.
