UPDATE: Beach Replenishment Schedule

The original plan outlined by the US Army Corps of Engineers along with Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co proposed the dredging of Townsend’s Inlet to have commenced by now, beginning in Avalon, and working from north to south, eventually reaching Stone Harbor toward to the end of April. Due to mechanical delays, the beach fill operation is now scheduled to begin on April 12th or 14th. Avalon is expected to receive 581,000 cubic yards of sand, and once completed on/about May 7th, then the fill will begin in Stone Harbor. Currently Stone Harbor expects to receive 714,000 cubic yards of sand, which should take 49 days to complete. The current schedule has the filling operations ending in Stone Harbor on June 27th.
