  • THE 39th STREET TENNIS FACILITY is undergoing a major rehab


  • THE AVALON BAY PARK MARINA is being renovated. The Borough also received a $1,000,000 Grant for a living shoreline project, to be built at the Marina


  • THE WATER TOWER at 13th Street will soon get a makeover to extend its life


  • BEACH TAGS are now available for purchase at the Beach Tag Booth, located at 30th Street and Avalon Avenue. The Booth is open weekends 10am to 4pm and as of April 26th, the Booth will be open daily. You can also purchase tags online here. Cost for a Season Tag is $35 through May 31st, and $40 thereafter. Weekly beach tags cost $17, and Daily tags are $8.00. Avalon & Stone Harbor continue to have a reciprocal agreement with their beach tags


  • BEACH FILL – in late May, Avalon will begin a beach fill via a sand back-passing project. The process involves trucking sand from larger beaches (in the mid-30s Streets) to the area between 9th and 15th Street. This year the work will be done during overnight hours


  • BULK TRASH- Scheduled 2 times/year: Household furnishings, mattresses, etc.


  • Place items curbside from May 2nd-May 11th, for pickup to begin at 7am on May 12th. Place items curbside from August 29th- September 7th, for pickup at 7am on Sept. 8th

Happening in Stone Harbor

  • STONE HARBOR BOOT CAMP is back for its 18th year!!!! Begins on Friday, May 23rd  at the Borough’s Public Recreation Center located at 81st Street


  • Community Yard Sale- Garden Club of Stone Harbor is hosting the Community Yard Sale –Saturday, May 17th, (8am-1pm), rain date of May 18th at 94th Street Parking Lot


  • Stone Harbor Beach Opening Ceremony & Color Run, May 24th Saturday, 95th Street Beach, (9am – Noon)


  • Stone Harbor Farmers Market, located at the Water Tower Lot runs from Sunday, May 25th-August 31st (8am-12:30pm)



  • Stone Harbor Bulk Trash pick-up dates are Mon. May 12th, September 15th, and October 20th, and curbside placement of old furniture, appliances and “junk” should be done within 72 hours prior to these dates. Construction debris will not be removed
