The Rainbow Comes and Goes
by Anderson Cooper and Gloria Vanderbilt
In this touching family history, mother and son exchange letters about their lives, ask questions they have always wanted to know and become closer by sharing stories of family relationships.  Gloria Vanderbilt (age 93 currently) reveals much about her scandalous childhood and her formation as a woman, while Anderson Cooper discusses tragedies he has dealt with (his father dying when he was age 10 and his brother committing suicide).   Well-written and revealing, this book will make you want to connect with your own older family members.  (Adult Non-Fiction)

Lincoln in the Bardo
by George Saunders

If there is ONE audiobook you listen to this summer, make it  this one!  Unfolding in a graveyard over the course of a single night, this literary  masterpiece is narrated by a dazzling chorus of voices - all “ghosts in the graveyard” where President Lincoln’s young son Willie has been laid to rest.  Read by an astounding total of 166 readers, including Nick Offernan, David Sedaris, Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle and more, this story in audio format is highly entertaining.  One of my favorite books so far this year! (Adult Fiction - available as a book on CD or eaudio via Overdrive, and also in print)

My Cousin Rachel
by Daphne Du Maurier

With the film adaption of this classic opening in theaters this week, I just had to pick this book back up again.  In this mystery-romance, a young Englishman seeks revenge against his lovely cousin, but soon finds himself falling under the spell of her mysterious charm.  Dark and broody and gorgeously written!  Read it quick and beat the weekend heat by checking into a theater to see it on the big screen (starring Sam Claflin as Philip and Rachel Weisz as Rachel). That’s how I’m planning to spend my Sunday afternoon! (Adult Fiction)
