Dear Friends,
With summer winding down, World Cares Center is ready for a busy month of September. As you may know, World Cares Center was founded in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attack, providing support to responders and volunteers, and honoring those that made the ultimate sacrifice. With our continued evolution, we honor the resilient spirit of our Ready Responders and pay homage to those we lost by training and protecting the Ready Responders that are the first to take action when disaster strikes.
During September's preparedness month we are proud to be collaborating with AmeriCorps and 9/11 Day to launch a Ready Responder Training Initiative. This initiative turns the phrase "Never Forget" into meaningful action. The Ready Responders 9/11 Initiative invites participants to take part in a 2.5-hour training session, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to effectively respond in times of crisis. Trainees will also receive Ready Responder Packs, which include volunteer protective equipment and a Ready Responders tee shirt. Participants are invited to be a part of a national movement and an “I am a Ready Responder” video. The initiative is already underway. Learn more and schedule a training HERE.
I would also like to remind you that our annual Stars Under the Stars fundraising event is taking place on September 19th at Fornino, Brooklyn Bridge Park. This is a special evening that allows us to honor and thank Ready Responders, community volunteers, and front-line emergency workers. It is also serves to raise awareness and critical funds for World Cares and our mission to train and protect. Shelli Sonstein, co-host of Q104.3 NYC Radio’s “Jim Kerr Rock and Roll Morning Show” and the iHeart Radio “9/11 Stories” Podcast will co-host the event and we will also be honoring Elizabeth Crowley, President & CEO of the Building Trades Employers Association, with a Lifetime of Service Award for her steadfast dedication to protecting responders and frontline workers. For more information on attending, sponsoring, and donating, please see below or click HERE.
September will be filled with our training sessions, which include sessions focusing on stress management and emotional resilience. Please see below for more details.
I hope you have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day Weekend. As always, thank you for your support as we continue carrying out our mission to train and protect our Ready Responders.

Join us and Andrew Bershad, Founder and CEO of Flying Aces Enterprises, to discuss active shooter safety. Hope, Love and Courage
The Hope, Love and Courage program was founded during the September 11th relief effort at our community center, September Space, for rescue workers, disaster volunteers and survivors. This program has been adapted for other audiences and we have been recently offering this program to Ukrainian children and their parents or caregivers. World Cares Center, with two decades of experience in emotional resilience, mental health and art therapy, has created a guidebook for caregivers that includes a coloring book for affected children and a journal for young adults. These publications have been translated into several languages to help child survivors manage their trauma and grief.
