The Impact of Pendleton Place

At our 9th Annual Benefit held November 14th, Pendleton Place announced plans to open Greenville's first youth drop in center.

"In the coming months, Pendleton Place will open Greenville's very first youth drop-in center, a day center for homeless youth that will meet their basic needs, connect them to the broader continuum of homelessness services, and coordinate a number of on-site partner services, such as mobile healthcare and mental health" announced Jed Dews, Executive Director of Pendleton Place.

Recognizing that young people do not access homelessness services in the same way as their older adult counterparts, Pendleton Place believes that a youth-friendly drop-in center will serve as a critical element of caring for this special population. At the drop-in center, youth will be able to get a hot meal, take a shower, do laundry, use a computer, and access a locker, but most importantly, they can begin to build trust in staff who care about them without judgment. That trust is the key to taking the next step toward structured case management leading to self-sufficiency.
Pendleton Place also announced the expansion of shelter rooms on its main campus, allowing the organization to once again open its doors to young people seeking refuge and a bed of their own. The shelter will be open to runaway and homeless youth, unaccompanied minors, minor victims of trafficking, and other young adults who have experienced severe trauma. Just like Pendleton Place's existing foster care home, this shelter will offer several healthcare and mental health supports as well as access to independent living skills and case management.
"Providing day center services and specialized shelter to these young people who now find themselves without a home of their own is a logical and natural extension of Pendleton Place's history and mission of combating injustices against children and youth. We simply refuse to allow these young adults, most of whom experienced the foster care system as children, to go unsupported," said Dews.

First Annual Caroline King See Memorial Award

Recently, the staff of Pendleton Place learned with heavy hearts of the passing of Caroline King See, a former Board Chair,  who led the organization through some of its most difficult times of change. Caroline saw Pendleton Place through its growing pains with compassion, wisdom, and wit, always advocating for the best interests of the children, regardless of the challenges.  Caroline was quick to remind everyone that the young ladies who reside in Smith House were the heart and soul of the organization; her love for these kids echoes the love of so many who came before her and was a beacon reminding us that no matter how complicated the work may seem, loving kids is always easy. So today the staff and Board of Pendleton Place would like to honor Caroline by doing exactly what she would have wanted - showing love to one of their kids.  Pendleton Place recognizes Brianna Moon as the recipient of the very first Caroline King See Memorial Award.

Who wants to hand wash dishes?

Our Smith House residential shelter for teen girls in foster care is in desperate need of a dishwasher and the professional installation services required to use it. We believe there is a current space in the kitchen that would be appropriate for a small dishwasher, but it is beyond our current budget to make this purchase. Without assistance, we won't be able to teach our young ladies a basic life skill as simple as loading and unloading a dishwasher! "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"

Pendleton Place would like to extend a huge thank you to  SYNNEX Corporation  and the  for hosting another successful Share the Magic Gala, on October 6th.

SYNNEX Share the Magic started eight years ago by Peter Larocque, SYNNEX President of U.S. Distribution, to provide funding for local organizations that support children who have faced challenges such as abuse, neglect, or illness.  Pendleton Place is blessed to be one of the four beneficiary charities that SYNNEX has chosen to support, along with A Child's Haven, Clement's Kindness, and Make-A-Wish.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported all the various events throughout the year!  We hope everyone was able to learn more about the incredible work SYNNEX does to support the vulnerable children in our community.
It was a Rock'n Time!

Pendleton Place would like to thank and congratulate  Arizona's Children's Charities   for another successful Rock'n on the Runway concert and golf tournament! Because Pendleton Place is an event beneficiary, we will be able to help more children, teens, and young adults affected by abuse and neglect.

Thank you to everyone who supported and attended the event, as well as to all of our volunteers! Great weather, great food and of course great music! It is truly through the benevolence of everyone who supported the event that allows us to fulfill our mission. Without your generosity, our children would not receive the support we strive to provide. We hope to see everyone again next year!

Giving Tuesday

Mark your calendar for another year of #GivingTuesday which will take place on  November 27, 2018 . #GivingTuesday was a movement that began in 2012 to foster the spirit of giving back via social media and collaboration, and now generates  millions of dollars and countless hours of volunteerism from people across the globe.

Giving Tuesday, the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving, kicks-off the season of generosity by encouraging people to donate to a charity that needs their assistance. When you designate these funds to Pendleton Place, you directly affect the lives of the children, teens, and young adults we serve.

Donations can be sent to Pendleton Place, Attn: Donor Relations, 1133 Pendleton Street, Greenville, SC 29601. Donations can also be made through our website. Thank you for being a part of #GivingTuesday 2018!
Volunteer Spotlight

Thanks to GE, the Pendleton Place campus recently went through a complete update! This group of engineers worked diligently to  complete many projects around our campus. This hardworking group trimmed bushes, painted lines in the parking lot, fixed the playground, pressure washed buildings, and so much more! Our campus has never looked better thanks to their time and resources. Thank you GE for helping us provide a welcoming place to the children, teens, young adults, and families we serve!
Our Mission is to keep children safe and support families in crisis through prevention, assessment, and intervention.

Our Vision is a community where children are safe, families are strong, and victims become whole again.
