MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP
Dear McCance community,

The start of 2023 has been filled with excitement and productivity. Since January we have achieved key milestones for the launch of our national multi-institution REACH study, made strides toward the launch of our first-of-its kind Clinical Trial platform, expansion of the Brain Care Score within clinics and partners across the globe, and the initial launch of the Human Sleep Project's Data Science Platform. Finally, we visited Yale’s newly-launched Center for Brain and Mind Health as well as Oxford University’s Nuffield Department of Population Health to begin discussion of the launch of formal alliances.

While the flutter of activity is energizing, we are ever mindful of our cause. In January this community lost perhaps the Center's deepest source of inspiration, Allison McCance. Allison was Henry's wife of over 50 years and the inspiration for the launch of the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund 20 years ago and our own Henry and Allison McCance Center for Brain Health just five years ago.

Allison’s life force has animated everything we do here at the Center. Her loved ones confronted the tragedy of her early diagnosis with Alzheimer’s Disease with the most generous philanthropic devotion to future generations imaginable: a commitment to doing all they could to ensure that others would not have to endure the suffering Allison and her family endured. Henry’s stories about his love for Allison, and how he took inspiration and a call to action from her diagnosis, are legendary. All of us who have had the privilege of listening to Henry speak of Allison and their partnership have been deeply moved.

As we go forward, we do so with Allison’s memory and inspiration in mind. Together we believe we can create a future where this devastating disease no longer brings the anguish it does today.
With hope and vigor,

McCance Initiatives, Faculty, Clinicians Making an Impact
McCance Center Managing Co-Director and Co-Founder Dr. Jonathan Rosand discusses the current state of Brain Care, the global health crisis, and the McCance Center’s mission to drive the right initiatives to intervene earlier for better Brain Health for all.
Lead Research Fellow Dr. Sanjula Singh and Lead Research Coordinator Brigitte Jacoby discuss the exciting new research study launched at the McCance Center. The REACH study connects brain health, blood pressure, and social determinants of health.
To assist in conversations with patients, we’ve created an accessible resource page with recommendations and best practices on ways to improve the metrics of your Brain Care Score.
It’s been more than 10 years since Drs. Sonia Vallabh and Eric Minikel founded the Prion Alliance to develop therapeutics for human prion disease. In a recent interview we learned where they are in the clinical trial process.
