2025 Highlights

We may not fill your inbox often, but Malachi's is busy every week doing what matters most—feeding neighbors, offering dignity, and building community. This past year was full of meaningful work made possible by our volunteers, donors, and supporters. Thank you!

In 2025, Malachi's Storehouse served an average of 341 households per week or 1,438 people per week.

We distributed 713,435 pounds of food!

Supporting the Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk

Last March, we organized a team to participate in the Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised an impressive $6,700, which Malachi’s Storehouse is using as credit to purchase food through the Atlanta Community Food Bank—directly strengthening our ability to provide nourishment to those in need.

Save the date for this year’s Hunger Walk on March 15! Registration details will be available soon. Our goal is to raise $10,000, and with your support, we can make an even bigger difference. Join us by walking, donating, or cheering us on as we work together to fight hunger in our community.

Garden Goodness

Patty Baker has been the heart of our garden for the past few years, thoughtfully caring for it from season to season. She plans each planting, uses cover crops to keep the soil healthy and productive, and harvests weekly so fresh produce is always available for our clients. Patty also takes the time to show clients how to harvest for themselves, empowering them to participate directly. She manages the garden’s watering and is always present on our Wednesday distribution days—answering questions, teaching volunteers, and ensuring produce is harvested and shared at its freshest. We are deeply grateful to Patty for taking on every aspect of the garden and for the care she brings to this vital part of our pantry.

Family Fun-Day

In July, we held our 4th annual Family Fun Day! Once again, Barry Deutsch brought the volunteers (Boyscout Troop #477) and our clients' children brought the laughter!

Volunteer Appreciation Party

On May 31, we gathered at the pavilion for our annual volunteer appreciation party, celebrating another year of outstanding dedication and support from our volunteers. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, say thank you, and enjoy a meal catered by Moe’s.

Malachi's Closet Boutique

On Saturday, September 13, the clothing closet volunteers, led by Judy Greig, hosted a special boutique for the clients. The boutique featured special occasion dresses and accessories and clients were invited to shop, try on, and even have their outfits altered by one of our volunteers!

Friendsgiving

On Saturday, December 6, Malachi's hosted another Friendsgiving, one of our favorite traditions. Coming together to enjoy a meal that we all contributed to makes for a warm and relaxing night and it's a great way to catch up with each other! The TV in the parlor ensured no one was missing any football!

Christmas Photobooth

Clothing closet team lead Judy Greig and her family have made it a tradition to bring some holiday festivities each year to the clothing closet. This year a fireplace themed backdrop, decorated Christmas tree, and beautifully wrapped boxes set the scene and clients and their families were invited to have their picture taken. An instant polaroid picture is given to each guest to take home as a keepsake. The clients and the volunteers love it!

It's a family affair: Judy, Russell, Russell Jr., and Rosie set up the photo booth and take the pictures.
