Kitchen Renovation Complete!
The long awaited kitchen renovation is behind us and we are thrilled with the results! Of the many improvements, here are some of our favorites:

  • Improved kitchen flow
  • Nonslip, indestructible floor
  • Pass-through window
  • Convection and warming oven
  • Bright lights
  • New dishwasher
We look forward to getting back to preparing a meal for our clients.

And, speaking of serving meals....

Construction of a new Pavilion
will start soon!
Drawing of Pavilion
New picnic tables that will go under the pavilion
Malachi's will be getting back to offering a meal to our clients and we'll be sharing that meal under a new pavilion that will seat 64 people! The pavilion will be located at the back of St. Patrick's Church near the playground.

We are grateful for the funds we received that made the pavilion and kitchen renovations possible. We'd like to thank the following:
  • Episcopal Community Foundation
  • City of Dunwoody CARES Act
  • St. Patrick's Endowment Fund
  • Generous donors of Malachi's
Vaccine Clinic a Success
On June 2 & 9, Malachi's was pleased to partner with Worldwide Pandemic Solutions to offer the 1-dose Johnson and Johnson Covid Vaccine to our clients. We had a terrific response and our clients as well as nearby residents were very grateful to have the opportunity.
Thank you for feeding our volunteers!
We put out the call to feed our volunteers on Wednesdays while our kitchen was being renovated and you delivered - literally!

Conveyor Belt
Our new conveyor belt has helped us serve our clients faster and made the volunteers' jobs easier. We're grateful for this provision!
MARTA Buses are Back
Due to the pandemic, MARTA suspended many bus routes throughout the city including Route #132 which serves the bus stop across the street from Malachi's Storehouse. This interruption in service affected many of our clients and volunteers.

Volunteer Bobby Akins said that due to the route being suspended near his house, he had to walk 15 minutes, sometimes in the dark, in order to get to the MARTA station closest to him. Now, the bus route is back and he can be picked up in front of his home.

Malachi's is grateful for the shuttle that MARTA provided from the Chamblee MARTA station directly to Malachi's each Wednesday. And, a special thank you to Howard Harris who drove the shuttle. Howard became a friend to everyone he met on the shuttle and in between drop-offs and pick-ups he helped out at Malachi's. He was always willing to help unload delivery trucks, move tables, lift heavy boxes, and be a helping hand wherever needed.
It's Backpack Time!
Malachi's is excited to announce that the time has come to collect backpacks with school supplies! Every year we collect and distribute several hundred backpacks to help our clients' children get ready to go back to school. Every school-aged child, no matter their socio-economic level, should have the tools necessary to start school ahead of the game and Malachi's has been supporting this effort for more than 10 years!

Our distribution date is Wednesday, July 28 during our regular food pantry hours of 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

How Can You Help?

We rely on our Backpack Partners and friends of Malachi's (that's you!) to help us meet our wish for 700 filled backpacks by July 27.

1. Purchase these school supplies and a backpack.

2. Drop off supplies at Malachi’s Storehouse on Tuesdays between 4:00 - 6:00 pm by July 27 or in the Narthex at St. Patrick’s from July 1 - July 27.

3. Support our largest backpack partner, For the Kid. Their backpack event is virtual this year, but you can visit their website to find out how to participate: http://forthekid.org/new/

For questions about the backpack drive, please contact Judi Carlson or Carissa Malone at malachis@stpat.net.
