Dear Malt Messenger Subscribers,
I thought I should take one more crack at selling out Thursday night's Whisky Festival Fundraiser, or WhiFF.
The event runs for 3 hours, from 6-9 PM on Thursday, January 15th. The idea of this longer than usual event is to give our guests more time to engage with the Brand Ambassadors and other presenters on hand, while raising funds for some worthy charities:
- The Calgary Food Bank
- The Brenda Strafford Foundation
- The MS Society of Canada
Participants will be given a cut crystal Glencairn glass, which we are buying back from the MS Society, with which they will have the opportunity to sample from more than 80 premium products.
WhiFF will have elevated food and whisky experience from a typical KWM Whisky Festival. We are looking to do some good, but also want you to leave feeling like you got you money's worth.
Want some specifics on what we have planned? This Malt Messenger Bulletin is has all the FOMO inducing details you are looking for.
Hope to see you here on Thursday night.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ferguson
PS - As always, in the event of a price discrepancy, the point of sale at KWM will be taken as correct.

- Festival
The MS Calgary Whisky Festival might be no more, but that doesn't mean we can't still put on a fun whisky event, all about giving back to the community. We have lined up at least 7 brand ambassadors from Scotland, the US, and Japan to headline a VIP whisky festival at KWM. The event will be 3 hours long, to give participants time to mingle and connect with our special guests. It will feature an elevated whisky and food experience, the latter from our neighbours at Peasant Cheese who always do a good job. And it will be limited to no more than 80 participants.
Our objective is to put on a fun, intimate evening of whisky, and our goal is to raise close to $8,000.00 for charity. The majority of funds raised will be split between the Calgary Food Bank and The Brenda Strafford Foundation. We are also planning to purchase leftover MS Festival glasses to give away at the event, and accordingly we will be making a contribution to the MS Society of Canada too.
I hope you'll consider joining us for the first WhiFF... all great events need a catchy name!

- Festival
The Burns Bash is back! This year, we’re marking “the Bard's” birthday a few days early! This whisky festival will feature a mix of the latest and greatest new arrivals at KWM and some excellent deals. We’ve cut out the poetry, bagpipes and Highland dancing, but you’ll get to sample some great malts while enjoying food from our neighbour Peasant, while catching up with friends new and old... we think that Rabbie would approve of that!

James Bornn and Andrew have been talking for a couple of years about the possibility of putting on a Gordon & MacPhail tasting, exclusively featuring Kensington Wine Market Casks. With two new KWM Casks arriving in January, we are finally in a position to pull this off. We will be featuring the new Glenburgie 2003 and Miltonduff 2007, along with three other currently available KWM Casks (Bladnoch 1988, Caol Ila 2002, and Glentauchers 2000) along with a pair of sold out whiskies from the Archive (Balblair 1997 and Glentauchers 2006). 156 years of G&M... bottled for KWM!

Some of the best whiskies coming out of the Orkneys in the last decade have been undisclosed single malts. They are usually from Highland Park, but some of them trace their origins back to Scapa. We have cobbled together a range of 7 Orkney Malts, 3 each from Signatory and Old Orkney (Decadent Drinks), and another from A.D. Rattray.
