Good afternoon Benjamin,
You may have heard the awful story out of Texas where a husband drugged his pregnant wife's drink with abortion drugs he illegally ordered in an attempt to forcibly abort their unborn child.
The husband, Mason Herring, plead guilty to injury of a child and assault of a pregnant woman. His charge for these heinous crimes? Only 180 days in prison. Give me a break! Catherine Herring, the victim of the attempted forced-abortion, spoke out on the ruling, calling it "a flagrant and profound injustice," according to the NY Times.
Remarkably, State Senator Thomas Pressly (R-Shreveport) is the brother of Catherine Herring. Senator Pressly felt convicted by this heart-wrenching attack and reached out to me. We then worked together to file the Abortion By Fraud Criminalization Act (SB 276). The bill would create a new crime of "coerced criminal abortion by means of fraud" to give law enforcement proper means to prosecute those who use deceit and manipulation to harm pregnant women and their unborn children.
Unfortunately, the dangerous and reckless abortion pill policy of the Biden Administration could have cost Senator Pressly the lives of his sister and niece! It is too easy for men intent on ending the life of an unborn baby, often against the will of the pregnant woman, to acquire abortion pills.
We applaud Senator Pressly for taking action to hold accountable those individuals looking to poison a pregnant woman with an abortion pill against her will.
The legislative session just got started this week, and we are already on the ground to advance this bill and others. Take a look below at our agenda!
