How to Create a Service Portfolio
Don't forget to keep your own record of ALL
your service in a
Service Portfolio.
What is a service portfolio?
A notebook which you keep track of EVERYTHING you do with detailed information
. This is a crucial part of your volunteer experience.

Even when you sign-in somewhere, have school forms completed or get a letter from the organization you help ... be sure to keep the same records for yourself.
Your Service Portfolio should consist of all (or most) of the following information:

Name of Volunteer Project
Location of Project
Date(s)  Time(s)

Description of what you did as a volunteer.

List any leadership positions you may have held.

Materials from event.

Pictures of you
volunteering at event

Copies of emails regarding event / Correspondence

Name of Volunteer
Contact / Coordinator

THEIR SIGNATURE

Their email
and phone number

You may even want towrite about the volunteer experience: about what you liked, didn't like, why you thought it was meaningful, what you may have learned
about yourself or your community.
This will help you in the future when you are applying for scholarships/awards.
Hundreds of applications require essays and reflections
about passed volunteer experiences.

Service Portfolios are not required but they become a great resource for you when you are researching service scholarships and awards. Please always be responsible for your service experience.

Looking for host families!

July 6 - 31 Education First exchange student company will be bringing French and Spanish students to the Bradenton/Sarasota Area. They need families to host the 50 students. Host families will earn 60 community service hours. You can also earn travel credits with our EF tours division so you can travel too!

Host families get to pick the student they host! EF does not just hand you a student. They match students to your family based on your families life style and hobbies. You can even pick age and gender.

What are the host families responsibilities?
Host families provide the student a bed, 3 meals a day and transportation to EF led weekly field trips. Host families can join EF on the field trips. Some of the fun they have planned is Livingston's for Go Karts and arcade, International Mall in Tampa for a day to shop 'til you drop! South Florida Museum for a scavenger hunt in the dark with flash lights after watching the movie, "Night at the Museum" in the planetarium.

If you are taking French or Spanish at school what a cool way to practice this summer!

Interested?
If this sounds like the most fun way to get your service hours contact Sherree Bowman at Hstakid@aol.com
or call 941 545 7300.
