In other Argentum news, we had a blast last quarter working with the Booth Executive MBA program's Global New Venture Challenge teams in Chicago, Hong Kong and London. As always, there were some fantastic budding businesses doing very interesting things, including:
  • Leopard IoT - An EU-based white label B2B bike alarm company that leverages cloud technology to keep bikes and their riders safe;
  • Drosent - Drone technology to detect hydrogen sulfide leaks in Texas oil fields before they injure workers; and
  • Fanmi - A two-sided business model that is helping fan groups in China safely and securely donate money to their idol-specific campaigns and tributes.

An interesting email showed up in the Argentum inbox a few months ago. The subject line was Invitation For Coffee For Susan Silver. I almost didn't open it because I wasn't even sure what that means.  
 
Turns out that it was an awesome example of a what-not-to-do tone-deaf marketing communication. Brilliant in its lightning-fast ability to alienate the target consumer, it drove one LinkedIn connection to say "What the hell does a 25 year old guy know about menopause?"
