Note from the CEO

It’s hard to imagine that November is already here and the holidays are upon us. At Management Solutions, November will be yet another busy month as we celebrate and achieve a number of significant milestones for the company and for the organizations we help every day.

Kicking off the month is International Project Management Day, which takes place on November 5. This is the day when the industry recognizes the incredible work project managers around the world perform to make projects efficient and help ensure that they are delivered on time. There are 1.6 million project managers worldwide, with 66.8 percent based right here in North America. We’re grateful for all our project managers at Management Solutions, and salute the work they do to help organizations be the best version of themselves.

On November 7, Management Solutions will celebrate its nineteenth anniversary. Since our inception, we’ve worked on hundreds of projects in the government and commercial sectors, but it was Oak Ridge National Laboratory that put their trust in us first. In just under a decade we were able to achieve one of the highest honors in government contracting and were named SBA National subcontractor —an honor typically achieved only once. Management Solutions is now a nationally recognized Performance Management consulting firm working with a wide variety of clients across the United States.

Our new Talent Solutions subsidiary that provides project controls training continues to go from strength-to-strength, and within only a few months is already helping several exciting organizations. On November 30, we will conduct another Talent Solutions’ Project Controls training class, and we’re excited about welcoming the next cohort of what we believe will be a new generation of project controls professionals.

We are very proud of our accomplishments, but none of them could have been achieved without the dedication of our Management Solutions team and the loyalty of our many clients. We thank you for helping us to become such an impactful business over the course of the last 20 years.

From all of us at Management Solutions, we wish you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Misty Mayes, CEO

Monitoring the Pulse of Your Project

More and more projects controls are significantly impacting the effectiveness of project management. Without project controls, it is extremely difficult to deliver a project on time and within budget and not compromise quality and client satisfaction.

Like project management, the shortage of project controls professionals has become a significant industry issue. Management Solutions’ new Talent Solutions subsidiary was created as a one stop solution for the industry’s project controls personnel needs. Our focus is to recruit and develop the next generation of project controls professionals. Talent Solutions’ training programs offer:

10 Reasons why Project Management Matters

For over two decades, we’ve partnered with government and commercial clients to deliver project management excellence. November 5 is Project Management Day and we want to celebrate the industry and recognize the many project managers and project teams in every industry who contribute their time, energy, creativity, innovation, and countless hours to deliver products, services, facilities, and provide emergency and disaster recovery services in every city and community around the world. Here are our top 10 reasons why project management is so important!
Sacrifice and Persistence Pays off - Celebrating Women in Project Management

Since Management Solutions is a woman-owned business and with this being project management month ,we thought it only appropriate to shine a light on women in project management and share the story of one of the many women in our company making strides in this field. This month, we asked Laurel Mench, a certified Project Management Professional, to share her personal journey from fast-tracking her career to side-lining it for motherhood for a season.

How to Up-skill Your Workforce in the Age of AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is slowly transforming the world around us. According to a study conducted by Deloitte the percentage of organizations deploying AI solutions is up by 270 percent from just four years ago. Their analysts forecast global AI spending will more than double over the next three years, topping $79 billion by 2022. Like many professions, project management will not be immune to the impacts of AI. As the number of AI projects increase, so will the need for skilled project managers to manage those projects. Organizations will need to be more agile and establish a culture of continuous learning to reskill and upskill their workforces to fill the skills gaps created by all the digital transformation.

In a report published by McKinsey, 80 percent of the 1,500 respondents surveyed from both public companies and not for profit organizations who were investing heavily in artificial intelligence pledged to retain and retrain existing employees.
